For the first time, you can restore smooth and textured vinyl trim, moldings and door panels to coal black, or any color with the neutral, clear coat formula.
UV radiation destroys exterior vinyl. Every pro or enthusiast knows the frustration of a perfectly detailed vehicle and “not so perfect” black trim. No matter what dressing you apply, it lasts through a single wash or at the most, a few weeks or even days.
Trim-A-Shield not only tackles the UV damage problem, it solves it! Trim-A-Shield is a high tech acrylic polymer formula that forms a molecular bond to vinyl and textured plastic. When dry, it forms a tough, super-resilient plastic coating that remains flexible. As it cures, Trim-A-Shield polymerizes to form a very dense, smooth surface that is air tight and water proof.
Trim-A-Shield also resists common environmental hazards such as dirt, grease and oil, as well as paint, dyes, felt markers, ball point pens, and some acids. It’s molecular properties create a barrier similar to vacuum sealing plastic wrap! The space between the surface and the coating is eliminated.
Trim-A-Shield for Vinyl
Vinyl is not porous. Since it cannot absorb a dressing or protectant, the products remain vulnerable to the elements. Water based vinyl protectants are quickly washed off by rain or a garden hose. Solvent-based dressings have more durability, but can be removed with detergents and pressure washers. Vinyl and rubber restoration products contain dyes that can stain the surface, but even those eventually succumb to the weekly washing process.
Even on super flexible vinyl tops, Trim-A-Shield will not crack, yellow, peel, or wash off. (See photo for "before & after" application on the dingy Mustang convertible.) The transformation is the same, no matter the condition of the vinyl.
Trim-A-Shield for Plastic
Plastic is a greater challenge. The sun is not selective. UV damage is just as common to smooth and textured exterior plastic. When your luggage rack and its supports turn gray, it keeps the rest of the vehicle from looking good, no matter how many coats of wax you apply.
The "Black" will solve this problem with the same ease it performs on vinyl surfaces. Clean the surface with the Cleaner and apply a thin coat of the Shield with our paint brush or a sponge and instantly, you have a brand new finish! When the finish starts to wear off, follow the same steps and reapply twice a year.

You will find that surfaces treated with TRIM-A-SHIELD tend to stay cleaner. Car shampoo will keep the surface clean. It is never necessary to use abrasive cleaners on surfaces that have been treated.
